We’ve done the research on nearly 40,000 golf courses across the world and we’re ready to break down which countries have the most courses to choose from!

How many golf courses are there in the world?

According to the Golf Around the World 2021 by R&A, there were 38,081 golf courses in 206 different countries.

Since the world has 251 countries, that means 82% of countries have at least one golf course.

And what’s even more interesting, is that over 80% of the world’s golf courses are located in the top 10 golfing countries, which we’ll cover in the next section.

Here’s a breakdown of the 10 countries with the most golf courses available to play!

1. United States of America

The United States of America comes in first with a total of 16,156 golf courses.

2. Japan

Japan comes in second with a total of 3,140 golf courses.

3. United Kingdom

The United Kingdom comes in third with a total of 3,101 golf courses.

4. Canada

Canada comes in fourth with a total of 2,564 golf courses.

5. Australia

Australia comes in fifth with a total of 1,584 golf courses.

6. Germany

Germany comes in sixth with a total of 1,054 golf courses.

7. France

France comes in seventh with a total of 811 golf courses.

8. Republic of Korea

The Republic of Korea comes in eighth with a total of 810 golf courses.

9. Sweden

Sweden comes in ninth with a total of 650 golf courses.

10. China

China comes in tenth with a total of 617 golf courses.
